I temporarily interrupt your missionary planning/scrolling with this project I’ve been working on that I’m SO excited about! A printable Easter Activity Advent Calendar all centered on Jesus Christ.
Elder Gary E. Stevenson said, “I observe a growing effort among Latter-day Saints toward a more Christ-centered Easter. This includes a greater and more thoughtful recognition of Palm Sunday and Good Friday as practiced by some of our Christian cousins.
We might also adopt appropriate Christ-centered Easter traditions found in the cultures and practices of countries worldwide.New Testament scholar N. T. Wright suggested: “We should be taking steps to celebrate Easter in creative new ways: in art, literature, children’s games, poetry, music, dance, festivals, bells, special concerts. … This is our greatest festival. Take Christmas away, and in biblical terms you lose two chapters at the front of Matthew and Luke, nothing else. Take Easter away, and you don’t have a New Testament; you don’t have a Christianity.”
Ever since I heard that talk, I’ve been pondering ways to make the month leading up to Easter more meaningful for our family. I’ve spent quite a lot of time researching and created an Easter Activity Advent Calendar that you can print and use with your family.
This LDS Easter Activity Advent digital download (in my Etsy shop) includes 30 different Christ-centered activities for Easter to choose from in the days leading up to Easter as well as 30 numbered (cute!) envelopes that you can print and fold.
I found beautiful and interesting Easter traditions from around the world. I also added a scripture, a quote or both for each activity. I included a Spring Scavenger hunt printable and printable Reverse Easter Egg handout if you choose to do those activities. My hope is you will choose activities that your family will be interested in, put them into the envelopes and then have a fun and engaging activity, scripture and quote each day leading up to Easter.
